    Dear All,

    The core value of our department is “Excellence & Beyond” in training our students in Electronics & Communication Engineering so that they will be successful in technical and professional careers as well as in their post-graduate studies at leading institutions. We have well stocked laboratories including state-of-the-art Optical Communication Lab, Microwave Lab, VLSI and Radar Lab. We conduct workshop for students periodically on a wide range of topics with hands-on sessions in: “build your own electronic gadgets”, micro-controllers based projects, robotics, MATLAB, etc. We also train our students in the Electronic Design Automation software tools such as MultiSim, PSPICE, MATLAB, etc. Also we take the students on educational tours which include industrial visits – electronic industries with a view to give exposure on electronic manufacturing and also to other industries where the students get a glimpse of a range of applications of electronics. Today, smooth running of industries and even the household, not at all possible without the help of electronics – from a simple door-bell to fully automated manufacturing industries, CNC lathes, a wide range of communication systems such as satellites, etc. EC students have unlimited opportunities for their career in almost all the industries due to applications of electronics in automation such as PLCs, SCADA; and also in public sector companies, research organizations, entrepreneurship in small and medium sector industries, and the list goes on . . . Our faculty and staff are always open to our students, which has been proved by our mentoring and career guidance in the past. I wish all the students a great success in their career and life.

    About the Department:

    The Electronics & Communication Engineering Department offers two undergraduate program in Electronics Engineering one is Electronics & Communication and Electrical & Electronics Engineering and one post graduate program in Digital Communication Systems. The Department has highly qualified and competent faculty members in the areas of Digital Signal Processing, Active Circuits, Data Communications & Networking, Mobile and Wireless communications, High Speed Networks, Optical Networks and VLSI & Micro-electronics. A combination of laboratory work, lectures and tutorials will help you understand technical theory. Your self-directed learning, research and investigation will develop this further. In your first 2 years, you'll learn the fundamentals of Electronic and Communication Engineering. You'll learn the mathematics and physics that are essential for an Engineering career. In your last 2 years, the focus will be on making you industry ready. You'll specialize in the Electronic and Communication fields and complete major design projects, individually and in teams. Design projects are similar to assignments undertaken by practicing Engineers. You'll learn high-level technical and design skills, as well as skills in communication, management, leadership and teamwork.

    The Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics and Communications) prepares you for a professional career in a range of Electronics and Telecommunications industries. The program helps you develop skills in modern communications principles as well as micro-electronics, fabrication, electronic design, signal processing and modern communications principles. As well as developing sound knowledge of the relevant technologies, you will acquire a detailed understanding of Electronic and Communication systems and the skills needed to design both components and systems. At Vikrant Institute of Technology and Management, Indore significant investments have been made in student and research facilities in an effort to create outstanding learning environments for our students, our engineering schools have an exciting new facility, the Technology Incubation Center, which will help you gain valuable engineering practice throughout your studies Duration of Under Graduate course in Engineering is 4 years (8 Semester) and for Diploma holders is 3 years (6 Semester) Duration the Master of Technology program is offered by all the Engineering Departments. The M. Tech program is of four semesters duration first and second semesters are entirely coursework oriented, the third and fourth semester involves THESIS work.

    The programme is designed to create innovators and researchers. Students are introduced to core courses that include programming, data structures, linear algebra, probability and random processes.ECE courses like electronics, signals & systems, communications, VLSI, and embedded systems are introduced in the early semesters. Electronics Workshops are specially designed courses intended to give students hands-on experience in electronic circuit design in the third and fourth semesters. Advanced courses and electives in later years enable students to specialize in communications, signal processing, robotics, VLSI, embedded systems, and other streams.

    6. VLSI Design and Simulation LAB

    The focus of VLSI Design and Simulation LAB lab is widely spread towards different pros and cons of the entire upgrading VLSI domain. Development works at different levels like semiconductor device simulation, circuits & system design and research in some recent trends like Digital signal processing has extensively being carried out. The VLSI library integrated with the lab helps the students, researchers and all enthusiasts to acquire all the much needed concepts to deal with different practical experiments. The students are familiar with: functional verification by behavioral simulations; complete FPGA design flow, including synthesis, map, P&R and hardware test.

    7.Network Analysis and CNTL Lab

    In the Network Analysis and CNTL Lab students Become familiar with the use and operation of test equipment such as power supplies, function generators, multimeters and oscilloscopes. They Learn the procedures for taking electrical circuit measurements of resistance, voltage, current, power, etc. They also Design and conduct laboratory experiments to analyze the behavior of linear RC and RL circuits and non-linear diode circuits and describe and present steps/procedures involved in using test equipment and in analyzing data obtained from laboratory experiments like Thevenin's Theorem, Norton's Theorem, Superposition Theorem, Maxwell's Loop (Mesh) Analysis, Nodal Analysis,and Millman's Theorem e.t.c.     Microprocessor laboratory is equipped with microprocessor kits and interfacing devices. The students achieve encoding skills in Assembly Language and Interfacing with various devices. The students have in depth knowledge in writing and executing 8086 8085 and 8051 Assembly Language programs. The objective of this lab: Students will be able to develop, implement and debug 8086 assembly language programs that meet the stated specifications and they should learn how to control components of a microprocessor based system through the use of interrupts.

    10. Basic Electrical and Electronics Engineering Lab

    In Basic Electrical and Electronics Engineering Lab students learn regarding recent trends in electrical and electronics engineering. The main objective of this lab is to further develop the students' laboratory practice for experimentally testing and evaluating electrical circuits and systems.  It is important that students develop this practice using modern lab equipment similar to that which is used in industry.Experiments include basic studies of characteristics of semiconductor devices, active filters & Schmitt trigger, digital circuits, building counters & shift registers, timer circuits and analog-to-digital converters, characteristics of electrical motors and generators, speed control of motors, synchronization of alternator with infinite bus or another alternator, performance of various power electronic converters.
